Welcome to Windber Medical Center

We call our healthcare community WindberCare – a name that stands for excellence in clinical standards, complementary therapies, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and (through affiliation with WRI) research. It’s a name that means innovation, best practices wherever they can be found, and the caring tradition we expect of the healthcare institution that has always carried the name of Windber.

Seldom has an institution of such modest size offered such diverse, high-quality care or drawn such attention. WindberCare has facilities and services you just can’t find in other community hospitals of its size elsewhere in America.

WindberCare’s legacy of innovative and qualitative patient-care has been made possible by far-sighted leadership, the dedicated support and hard work of exceptional employees, resolute regional leaders, loyal patients and their families.

Windber Medical Center Announces Campaign Fund Drive

Windber Medical Center publicly announced their capital campaign drive to expand the emergency service department and the obstetrics department. Windber has received an overflow of patients needing and requesting their services. We want to be able to accommodate the patients that choose Windber; therefore we have begun our fund drive which has been supported by our Board of Directors, our own employees, and various leaders in the region. Our campaign chairperson, Attorney Tim Leventry, has done a great job leading us in the right direction.

“We started this campaign with a silent phase of which we have already raised $2 million, and are still going strong,” Attorney Leventry said. “We are now asking for support from the region and community to keep our efforts at the highest level. We have a goal of $3 million and are constantly working to reach that goal.”

F. Nicholas Jacobs, President and CEO of Windber Medical Center said that expansions in the emergency room will need to double because patient services have surged to over 15,000. In the obstetrics department the design is to create more labor and delivery rooms as Windber is expecting about 300 births this year, which is about a 42% increase over the past year and a 56% increase over the previous year.
